The New Zealander took over from Ben Jeffery at Greenfield Park but he lasted just eight games at helm with the Thunder experiencing a mixed start to the season to sit fifth with a 4-4 record.
Three-time premiership coach Josh Cale, who was in a football manager role, will take charge for the rest of the season.
The Thunder job was Jackson’s first solo coaching role after joining the club from Group 20 outfit Yanco Wamoon Hawks.
