Water authorities are using technology to team up with everyday Australians, including school children, to battle an invasive species.

The Murray-Darling Basin Authority and Goulburn Murray Water launched the Water Weed Wipeout app this week.

Murray-Darling Basin Authority member Professor Barry Hart said the app combines technology, science and man power to help control Elgeria, an invasive species which escaped from aquariums and found its way into Lake Mulwala.
