The border outfit hammered the winless Griffith, 57-14.
It was the club’s first win since toppling Tumut on May 13, although the last two rounds have been byes due to representative duties.
“It was a pretty good performance considering we’ve still got a few players missing,” classy back Blake Le Cornu said.
“I don’t know if it helps, with half the guys playing a second grade game before, but they’re switched on and ready to go from the start.
“That seems to be one of the big things, we’re starting a lot quicker than what we have been.”
The club will be hoping to get players back though as two games will quickly diminish the chances of qualifying for finals.
The win has pushed the club back into the top five, with four wins and five losses.
The Steamers will now meet the team they’re battling for one of the few vacant spots in the five in Wagga Ag.
