Still a relatively young player, the 24-year-old has been thrust into a leadership role where some of her teammates are 10 years younger than her.
It's taken some adjustment, but Mahady says the team is on track to potentially record its most successful season in several years.
“There's been a lot of learning for everyone involved,” she said.
“It's been a great experience though, we're all working hard.
“We're a bit inconsistent, bit that will improve over time.”
The Lady Bandits logged their third win of the season last weekend, and have the remaining six games to improve on last year's benchmark.
Bigger crowds are coming to see the team play, the young core has proven itself.
Is the tide turning then?
“If we keep this group together, who knows what could happen,” Mahady said.
