Close to 10 people were involved in a fight at the front of the Albury venue after last drinks on June 26 last year.
Three of those involved – Timothy Peter Goddard, Benjamin John Ryan and Joseph Anthony Gavin – were convicted of common assault in Albury Local Court on Tuesday.
The trio, aged 33, 33 and 35, had been drinking during a basketball game at Lauren Jackson Stadium and went to the Young Street venue about 9pm.
A husband and wife and their two sons had arrived earlier in the day.
Last drinks were called about 11.30pm and the groups made their way outside.
There was a verbal altercation between two people which became physical, with punches thrown and people wrestling each other.
Goddard tried to pull one man off his friend, and when that failed he punched him four or five times.
Ryan dragged the older man to the nature strip and they wrestled, and Gavin threw a punch at an unknown man which missed.
All involved dispersed when security and bar staff intervened and the trio were spoken to by police in nearby Guinea Street.
Magistrate Megan Greenwood said it was the type of violent behaviour that made people scared to go out at night.
She spoke of the need to send a message to the community about alcohol-fuelled incidents.
“In my view, general deterrence looms very, very large in these types of matters,” Ms Greenwood said.
She noted two of the three men – Goddard and Ryan – had priors for high-range and mid-range drink-driving, which showed alcohol might be an issue for them.
“What we have here is alcohol-fuelled offending in and around licensed venues,” she said.
Gavin's involvement was deemed to be the least serious and he was convicted and fined $200.
Ryan was convicted and fined $550 and Goddard received the highest penalty by being convicted and fined $900.
