Gowns in whites and ivories are being traded for gorgeous ensembles in shades of platinum, silver and champagne, according to Ferrari Formalwear & Bridal manager Bree Neeves.
From figure-hugging fabrics to the fullness of princess ball gowns with layers of tulle and lashings of crystals, brides are opting for individuality, she said.
Take the gown modelled by Olivia Aughton for the Border Mail fashion shoot ahead of the Albury Wodonga Border Mail Bridal Fair on Sunday July 9.
The dress, a soft platinum blue and ivory ballgown with a sweetheart neckline and embellishments around the waist, will be among the wedding gowns modelled on the catwalk at this year’s event.
Held at the Albury Entertainment Centre, the bridal fair includes more than 60 exhibitors on hand to help couples plan their perfect wedding.
From hairdressers and invites to choosing venues and cars, the bridal fair aims to take the hassle out of wedding planning.
Ms Neeves said it was more common these days for brides to be over the age of 30 – and these women know what they want.
“They are moving away from traditional church weddings and creating their own point of difference with, say, a rustic or chic theme and an event that is also very family oriented,” she said.
Event manager Bradley Hayden said the bridal fair’s appeal lay in the fact everything was under one roof.
“It represents an ideal opportunity for brides and their families to plan that perfect wedding,” Mr Hayden said.
“And with the fantastic fashion parades (at 11am and 1.30pm) there’s ideas and inspiration on all fronts.”
Couples also have the chance to win a five-night honeymoon on the Gold Coast at beachfront property The Breakers Resort.
The 2017/18 Border Mail Bridal Guide will be launched at the fair with all attendees receiving a free copy on entry.
The fair opens from 10am to 3pm with a $7 entry.
