A week after Myrtleford’s Elijah Wales played a quarter with a fractured cheekbone, Morey has produced another inspirational feat in the 16.17 (113) to 6.5 (41) caning.
“It was a pretty crunch match for us and, at that stage of the game, I didn’t really know what way it (the game) was going to go, so I just had to dig in, just play through the pain barrier a little bit,” he said.
The 21-year-old was then asked how painful it was.
“Very, it was pretty painful,” he said.
The Pigeons’ Brad O’Connor kicked five goals, while teenager Brayden Coburn continues to step up in the midfield with the absence of Morris medallist Tyler Bonat and the league’s most improved player in Matt Gorman.
Yarrawonga sits second with a 10-four record, the same as Wangaratta, but it has a percentage lead of almost 80.
