Lavington scored a stunning coup on Tuesday when it announced former New Zealand paceman Daryl Tuffey will play for the club this season.
The 39-year-old captured the wickets of star South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis, along with Indian superstars Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.
“I was lucky to play on a couple of green-tinged wickets in 2002 in New Zealand,” he said of his Indian dismissals.
“I managed to get Sachin out in India on a flat wicket, which is more delightful.”

- Daryl Tuffey
Tuffey’s shock signing continues CAW’s push towards higher-profile recruits after fielding largely border-based products in the modern era.
Tallangatta’s Dilhara Lokuhettige became the association’s first international player since 1993 last season, while he was joined by former Delhi Daredevils (IPL) squad member, Sahib Malhotra.
Albury also had Scottish international Chris Sole.
Tuffey’s wife is from Echuca with the couple, and two children, set to move to Albury in December.
He will possibly play one game before Christmas, before playing on a more regular basis in the New Year.
The 194-centimetre quick, who was clocked in the high 130-kilometre per hour mark at his peak, played 26 Tests, taking 77 wickets.
He also claimed 92 wickets in 94 ODI’s.
Tuffey gained a reputation as a first-over specialist, often claiming wickets.
“Normally a lot of batters and bowlers take a little bit of time to get into it, but I was trying to get straight into it from ball one and get the batsman off guard,” he said.
“It was the best time to strike.”
After his international career, Tuffey spent three seasons with Bankstown in the powerful NSW Premier Cricket, where he forged an outstanding reputation.
He also spent time coaching with Bankstown and Sutherland.
