McCarthy polled 21 votes to edge out Bullioh’s Hamish Clark and Corryong’s Jarrod Williams by three votes.
The former Holbrook player has kicked 68 goals in 16 matches this season despite spending plenty of time in the midfield.
In the reserves, Federal’s Josh Jarvis edged out Corryong’s Thomas Saunders by a vote.
Swan Riley Saxon took out the under-16s.
Jonothan Pole was awarded the volunteer of the year award and Lesley Tyrell took out the club umpire of the year.
In the netball, Bullioh’s Lauren Coelli and Federal’s Sophie Pattison polled 24 votes to share the top honour in A grade netball.
Federal’s Jessica McLean won the B grade, Bullioh’s Emily O’Connor took out C grade, Clare McCormack was successful in D grade and Swan Maddison Miller won the 15 and under.
