MURRUMBIDGEE Council may have only 4000 residents but it has dual health systems, fire service areas and phone areas.

The shire is also represented by two NSW MPs, Albury MLA Greg Aplin and Murray MLA Adrian Piccoli.

Councillor-elect Ruth McRae said the shire also looked towards three regional centres – Albury, Griffith and Shepparton.

Mr Aplin said he had liaised with Mr Piccoli, a Nationals member who will be replaced at a by-election on October 14.

His seat covers the old Jerilderie Shire.
