Forbes will be released from jail in Victoria after serving time for a parole breach.

He was on parole when he stabbed Ross Kimball outside the Globe Hotel on January 6, 2002, and when he shot Mr Hullick in a caravan at the back of Dallinger Road horse stables four months later.

Mr Hullick’s wife, Kym, said it felt unjust that he was being released, but she was just trying to get on with her life.

“Obviously there’s a lot of emotion running around with myself and my girls,” she said.

“He shouldn’t be able to get out – he’s killed their father. It’s hard to explain the feeling that you have.”

Forbes had gone around to Ms Hullick’s home the day after he killed her husband to offer his support to her and her family.

He has never said why he shot his friend, but Ms Hullick isn’t interested in hearing an explanation.

The 45-year-old had argued during his trial that he was acting in self defence.

“I don’t want contact with him at all,” Ms Hullick said.

“No reason is good enough.

“It’s not going to heal me to know what he did it.

“Nothing will change that.

“We got the life sentence, he didn’t.” 

Forbes will still be on NSW parole when he is released and is banned from the Border region. 

Some fear Forbes, who has a string of criminal priors dating back to when he was young, will try to contact those who testified against him.
