Statis Systems Australia plans to build the body storage plant at Holbrook. 

The proposal was put out to tender, but secretary Matt Fisher said the quotes had come back higher than expected. 

The business was now weighing up its options after receiving several submissions. 

“We have been carefully reviewing our options, and are considering scaling back the requirements, obtaining more funds, or both,” he said.

“We can’t be sure how long the changes will take, though, so we don’t currently have an expected opening date.

“We are still determinedly working on the project, but as we are planning for the very long term we must make sensible and prudent decisions to ensure the permanent sustainability of the organisation.” 

The bodies will be stored in stainless steel tubes filled with liquid nitrogen when the facility is operational.
