Although the club remains desperately short of top-end talent, Almond has lured a host of Hume and Tallangatta and District league players to bolster the club’s depth.
Jamie Seymour, Dylan Cook, Dean Druce and Angus Lingham (Wahgunyah), Tyson Logie (Howlong), Luke Moloney (Billabong Crows) and Brendan Morris (Rutherglen) head the signings.
Corowa-Rutherglen has committed to fielding a reserve grade side after initially planning to align with CDHBU.
“Our main focus has been to build the core group and get some locals back from the bush,” Almond said.
“We are going with the reserves and have 36 signed up on our list.
“We will look at adding a couple of high-profile recruits and build a group who want to have a real crack.”
Like most clubs since the introduction of the player points system, Corowa-Rutherglen is targeting former players.
Seymour is the biggest signing and looks set to bring up his 200th senior match for the Roos next season.
Jamie Almond and Scott Montgomery will be Corowa-Rutherglen’s non-playing assistant-coaches, while talented key forward James Lawton is a playing assistant-coach.
Brent Corcoran has taken over as coach of the under-18s.
