Wood-fired oven coordinator Michael Laubli said the redevelopment would include more shelters, lights and barbecue areas in Hovell Tree Park, to cater for large events.
He said stainless steel benches would be installed with a sink and under-bench storage, so equipment could be stored on site.
Mr Laulbi said the oven attracts many different people and was a focal point of the community especially in autumn and spring.
He said the new development might even feature an Argentine Grill.
“We get a lot of different cultures coming through cooking different cuisines,” he said.
“People come in groups or families, they just spend time together and chill out.”
In August council’s planning and development committee agreed to apply for a $5 million regional growth environment and tourism grant by October 31, to match the council’s budget allocation.
