Police were called to the school just before midday after James Fallon High School received the anonymous phone call.
“Police attended the school, spoke to the principal and, as a safety precaution, evacuated the school and completed a search of the grounds,” Detective inspector Woodward said.
“Nothing suspicious was located and students were allowed to return to their school duties.
“We believe (the phone call) could possibly have come from locally.
“There were HSC students who had started their exams who were evacuated – we're not saying it was a HSC student, but we are saying we believe it to be a hoax, there was no danger to the children themselves.
“We do believe it could coincide with the start of HSC exams.”
Police said no other schools were targeted.
Earlier:
Students at James Fallon High School had to be evacuated on Monday after a series of threatening phone calls were made to the school.
Year 12 students sitting their English exam had been due to finish at 12.30pm, about half an hour after the decision was made to evacuate.
Those students were able to return to complete the exam at around 1.30pm.
Albury police are due to make a statement about the incident at 2.30pm. More to come.
