Warehouse manager Peter Matthews said the organisation was seeking donations from local community members and businesses to purchase a new refrigerated van.
He said the van collects food from farmers, suppliers and businesses and distributes meals across nine local government areas.
Mr Matthews said the amount of food collected was equivalent to 1.75 million meals for people who would otherwise go hungry.
Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare reduces food miles by collecting food from Woolworths Regional Distribution Centre, Riverina Diary, and SPC Ardmona and Unilever Australasia in Shepparton.
FoodShare distributes food throughout the nine local government areas of Albury City, Wodonga City, Wangaratta City, Alpine Shire, Towong Shire, Greater Hume Shire, Indigo Shire, Federation Shire and Moira Shire.
Mr Matthews said it would not be possible to deliver food across the organisation’s network without a van.
The van is also used to swap rescued food with Shepparton Foodshare and Moira Foodshare, to ensure a variety of products.
Mr Matthews said the organisation has received donations and grants from Albury Rotary, Border Trust, and Wodonga Council, but needs community support to afford the new van.
