More than 12,000 Oils devotees are expected to pile into the lakeside venue for the biggest Border concert since Cold Chisel visited the North East back in 2011.
Though inclement weather on Monday threatened to put a dampener on proceedings, the sun emerged on Tuesday and the show will go on, Regional Touring's Duane McDonald said.
“Everything is looking good, we’d been expecting a lot of rain on Monday which was a bit of a concern, but fortunately it’s bypassed us,” he said.
“There was a good bit of wind which put a bit of fear into the boys, but we’re on time, we’ve kept to schedule.”
Every show on The Great Circle tour has sold out, and the Gateway Lakes show is no exception – however some late release tickets are still available.
Melbourne punk-rockers The Living End are the support act for the Border show.
Road closures around the Lincoln Causeway will be in effect for several hours on Friday, most notably the southbound between 10pm and 11pm, to ensure concert-goers can return to their cars or central Albury safely.
The northbound lanes of the causeway will be closed between 4pm and midnight.
Shuttle busses will run to the venue from Albury railway station, Wodonga Plaza and Lavington Square shopping centre between 4pm and 6.30pm.
Return shuttles will commence at 10.30pm.
There will be a dedicated drop-off point in front of St Ives Hotel on Lincoln Causeway.
“We really want people to be dropped off or take advantage of the buses,” Mr McDonald said.
“It’ll be a bit of a nightmare with a lot of traffic out there on the night, so we want to avoid that as much as possible.
“For this show to sell 12,000 tickets shows how strong this area is.
“You couldn’t book a hotel room here this weekend, even Wangaratta has been booked out pretty well.
“Hopefully it’ll all spill over into the long weekend, people will stay for a couple of nights and head into the cafes, restaurants and bars.”
Gates open from 4.30pm on Friday.
