In their opening clash against Wagga, the association trailed by 20 shots before fighting back to go down 68-62.
It also lost to Riverina 87-57 but recorded impressive wins over South West (91-59), Southern Highlands (97-50) and Southern Slopes (84-66).
Wagga took out the shield, with Riverina second and Albury third.
Stephen Broad skipped Albury’s best performed rink.
He finished with four wins and 49 shots up while Terry Hensel also grabbed four wins and finished 16 shots up.
Albury’s official rink could only manage one win from five outings.
The association was chasing its first victory in the shield since 2009.
The shield started in 1962.
