Cr Ken Clarke delivered a shot at the league at Tuesday night’s council meeting on the back of news the Tigers and Bombers will play a preseason AFL game in Wangaratta in February.
“I trust the council will showcase the Norm Minns Oval in a way the Ovens and Murray league must take notice of and look at this being an alternative for the 2018 grand final,” he said.
“There is no doubt that the Norm Minns Oval is the premier ground in North East Victoria.”
The meeting was the first of what Cr Clarke said should be a “long and fruitful” journey for new Cr Ashlee Fitzpatrick.
Meanwhile, Cr Sophie Price was unanimously voted Indigo Council’s new deputy mayor on Tuesday.
She is the youngest councillor and forms an all-female leadership team with mayor Jenny O’Connor.
