On December 4, teachers will protest the actions of employers by attending a rally at the Commercial Club.
Independent Education Union secretary John Quessy said employers had taken ‘unprecedented action’ by putting an enterprise agreement to the vote, due on December 5, without the union’s endorsement.
In November, union members from Xavier High School, Albury, Holy Spirit Primary School, Lavington, St Joseph’s Primary School, Culcairn and St Patrick’s Parish School, Albury attended a rally at the Commercial Club.
They unanimously voted down a proposed enterprise bargaining agreement.
The dispute centres around a resolution clause in the agreement, which the union wants changed to guaranteed arbitration during disputes and the union says has always worked.
