New fencing and agility equipment feature in the Keene Street park, where dogs and their owners gathered for Saturday’s celebrations.
The day, hosted by Albury Council and Mars Petcare, included a sausage sizzle, dog training demonstrations and free microchipping for eligible pets.
Steve Panozzo, of Mars Petcare, said the East Albury site fitted in well between existing off-leash areas.
“We wanted to ensure that the folks of Albury have the best, safest facility and geographically located for everybody,” he said.
Mr Panozzo said the four-legged visitors all behaved well as they socialised and sampled some giveaways.
“They loved it, particularly the Schmackos,” he said.
The new obstacle course also proved popular.
“There was all sorts of challenges for your pet to keep them interested,” Mr Panozzo said.
“Some of the pooches nearly wagged their tails off, they were so excited.”
