Reigning premiers Beechworth host undefeated competition leaders Yarrawonga-Mulwala for early season bragging rights on Saturday.
Wanderers’ skipper Brenton Surrey mentioned after last week’s win over Wangaratta that his side still has plenty of work to do to beat the top sides, but will have a golden opportunity to test themselves against the early favourites.
“They’re as strong as anyone, they’ve probably been the benchmark over the last five to seven years,” Surrey said.
“If they haven’t won it, they’ve been thereabouts.”
In other games, Delatite will have its hands full containing an in-form Rovers United-Bruck outfit.
Greta will be out to inflict another loss on Ovens Valley United.
Wangaratta chases its first win when it faces Benalla Bushrangers away, while City Colts have the bye.
