Solid singles wins by Josh Graetz and Mal Lieschke helped the Galahs’ cause, with Blues’ Matthew Paull remaining unbeaten.
With honours even heading into the final two rubbers of the St Patricks/Diggerville versus Wangaratta match, Jade Culph, Isaac Dallinger and Dan Neville lifted to record a four sets to two triumph.
Sam Allen was best for Wangaratta.
Brock Dixon, Rodney and Graham Wurtz claimed straightforward singles victories in Forrest Hill Cats’ defeat of previously unbeaten Wodonga Bulldogs.
The latter won the doubles rubbers, but gave up too many games to give Cats a seven-game buffer at the end of the day.
In the ladies, Forrest Hill defeated Thurgoona Jade in a tight battle, four sets to two.
Kara Curphey was the standout on court, finishing with three sets, while Lynda Davis was best for Thurgoona.
Wodonga Larrikins charged into the Christmas break unbeaten at the expense of a plucky SPD outfit.
Larrikins were on top from the outset with Janae Piergrosse, Julie Morris, Sandra Allen and Kendall Oates all performing strongly, with Chelsea McGrath in good touch the losers.
Wodonga Dodgers easily accounted for Wodonga Diamonds, as did Wodonga Tigers over club mates Slammers.
Peter Murphy, Shane Tye, Hayden McIntosh and Ashley Wurtz combined well to help Forrest Hill Wombats defeat Forrest Hill Diggers.
A three-set haul from Shayne Mumberson was key in SPD’s salute over Thurgoona Sharks, with support from Mark Wettern, Joel Schoff and Josh Bear.
Matt Klopper was a two-set winner for Sharks.
John McVean and Mark Neil stood tall in Wodonga Bushrangers’ account of Albury, with the ageless Paul Grover fighting hard for the losers.
Brendan Hoffman was an unstoppable force in Sacred Heart’s 6-2 triumph over Forrest Hill Magpies.
The only ladies match saw Uiver Park grab a hard-fought victory from Glenly.
In section three men, a competitive match, despite the scoreline, showed Glenly Blue defeating Wodonga Pirates.
Jim Hynes and Henry Parker were solid for the winners, with Craig Farrar and Jack Morrison in good form for Pirates.
Albury Gold was never in trouble against Albury Blue, with Kevin Klose, Col Sheumack, Neil Smith and Graham McNicol giving little away.
Wodonga Eagles defeated SPD Yellow and Hayden Tankard’s explosive serving helped Sacred Heart account for SPD Black.
