Helen Ellis says she feels violated after the incident, which occurred at Jarrah Court early Thursday morning.
The offenders appeared to have jumped a side fence, entered the house through a side door, taken the keys to the car and roller door and fled with the white Peugeot.
Police had appealed for help to track down the stolen white 2016 Peugeot 208 sedan, which had Victorian plates 1FZ 5WY attached.
It was later found under the Fallon Street bridge in Albury, having been set alight about 6.30pm on Thursday.
Wallets were also stolen and other vehicles in the street were targeted for loose change.
Ms Ellis’ brother, Geoff Murphy, was staying in the home.
She said it was lucky they had both slept through the aggravated break-in.
“You just feel you’ve been violated in a way,” she said.
“It’s just awful, some stranger in your house.
“What if they were violent?
“I was thinking, what if I heard the garage door open?”
Her brother’s credit card was taken and used about 2.15am.
Police realised Ms Ellis’ home had been targeted when they attended other jobs for thefts from cars in the street and noticed her garage door open without a vehicle inside.
Her front door was locked, but a side door was not.
Josh Thomson’s vehicle was also searched through by the thieves, but there was nothing to steal.
Police took fingerprints and spoke to Mr Thomson and other residents.
“It’s very annoying, upsetting,” he said.
“Someone has been through my stuff … it violates your privacy.
“There was no damage or anything stolen this time.
“I’ll just have to remember to keep my doors locked.”
Mr Thomson has previously had a car targeted and a window smashed.
Police continue to remind people to keep their vehicles and homes secure.
Cars are frequently targeted by groups of opportunistic thieves on the Border, often for small amounts of cash.
Police urged anyone with information about the stolen Peugeot to call (02) 6023 9299 or 1800 333 000.
People were asked not to approach anyone seen with, or leaving, the vehicle.
“If you see the vehicle, whether moving or parked, please contact police immediately,” a spokesman said earlier in the day.
