Pensioner Helen Ellis’ Jarrah Court home was targeted last Thursday as she slept and her car stolen.
She had thought the insurance payments were through direct debit, like her home insurance payments, but later learnt they were not.
Ms Ellis’ has now been told by the company they will honour the deal despite the mix-up.
He daughter had contacted the business with media reports of the break-in, asking they cover Ms Ellis despite the payment mix up.
“I cried when she told me,” she said of Thursday’s call from the insurer.
“It really has been a tough week and I just can’t get over the fact they’ve been so wonderful.
“I wouldn’t expect it from an insurance company.”
After getting the good news, Ms Ellis slept well for the first time since the break-in.
“It really has been tough,” she said.
“This news has given me a boost.
“It’s quite worrying at the moment for Albury residents.
“You have to be so careful with people breaking into homes.
“We’re locking every door, whether we’re in the house or out of the house.
“The thing is we always lock the house when we go out but didn't think to do it when we were at home and sleep.
"We've learnt our lesson.”
