The Junior Formats pilot program was used by Cricket Albury-Wodonga at club level last season.
There’s a number of changes, including an 18-metre wicket and targeted fielding positions.
In short, the fielding positions don’t allow for a ring field, which can make it difficult for youngsters to score.
“CAW has been at the forefront of changing the game for Australia’s Future cricketers,” CA Head of Junior Cricket Belinda Clark said.
“This rep carnival is another bold step to support the initiative of making sure the game format facilitates the players having the right skills to fulfill their potential.”
The under 12s are the youngest age group of the six divisions, ranging through to 17s.
Wangaratta and District will join a handful of associations in the titles, which start in most grades on Monday.
