More than 65,000 have applied for a tertiary place through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre, seeking a spot in one of more than 1800 courses that are offered in the state.

Wodonga’s Lucy Dixon, 18, was spoiled for choice when her Victorian offers came in. 

Miss Dixon had already received an early offer from Deakin University, but managed to qualify for a first round offer for a Bachelor of Marine Biology at James Cook University in Queensland and an offer to study a Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science at the University of Tasmania. 

The former Catholic College Wodonga student said she’s leaning towards moving to Tasmania over the other offers because of the course’s links to the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Science.

But Miss Dixon won’t need to make a decision anytime soon, deferring all offers for a year while she moves to London with a friend. 

Fellow former student Tom Mundy will be preparing over the next few weeks to pack up his life and move to Geelong after accepting an offer to study International Studies at Deakin University.

Mr Mundy hopes to major in criminology and eventually qualify for the Australian Federal Police. 

Catholic College Wodonga career counselor Sandie McKoy said most students at the college were lucky enough to receive their first round offer, with many accepting early entry or gaining recognition for academic or community excellence. 

She said the school was extremely proud of its 183 students.

Mia Knudson, 17, will study Speech Pathology at Latrobe University while Bethany Whitehead, 18, is keen to study a double degree of Law and Intentional Relations at Deakin University. 

Georgia Thomas, 18, is deciding whether to study Zoology and Science at Deakin or Veterinary studies at CSU in Wagga.
