Police were called to a property in Brimin near Rutherglen about midday on Saturday.
Leading Senior Constable Joshua Hudson said there had been ongoing issues between the two men, aged 49 and 61, and the latest confrontation was spurred by allegations a dog had been poisoned.
“There’s been a long-running feud between them for 15 years and it came to a head,” he said.
“The perpetrator had his mobile on in his lap and it was still going when he inadvertently captured the threat to kill.
“His firearms – a shotgun and three rifles – were seized on Saturday night.”
The 61-year-old was charged with threatening to kill and was released pending summons.
