Monaghan will move from Canberra to Melbourne in coming days with the 35-year-old likely to debut in the season opener against Brothers on April 14.
“Once I get to Melbourne I’ll know more, but I’m looking at playing the home games and hopefully a few more,” Monaghan said.
“That’s the plan at the minute.
“It will be good.
“I’m not sure how far all the teams are from Albury but we will have a look at it.”
Monaghan made an instant impact for Albury in last weekend’s West Belconnen Nines tournament with the former Australian flyer unstoppable in the air.
It was his first hit-out since playing for Castleford Tigers last September.
“I enjoyed it,” he said.
“Albury has a good bunch of blokes and I’m looking forward to the season.
“We just ran out of steam at the end.
“I’ve been doing a bit of training but I haven’t really tackled anyone in 18 years.”
Monaghan has been playing in England since 2011 with the centre/winger living with coach Adrian Purtell for several years in Leeds.
It was there that Purtell suggested they play together at Greenfield Park.
”He’s been dropping hints for about 10 years now,” he said.
“We played together in Canberra and then spent time together in England. He said he was coming back to play and asked if I was interested in playing a few games with him.
“Moving to Melbourne helped so it will be good to stay involved in the game.”
