Albury Racing Club chief executive Mick Wighton said there would be more cash bars and new mobile ‘can vans’ to cater to crowds.
“Last year there were some issues with service, so this year we’ve instigated additional service points and also increased seating for the general public,” he said.
“It’s looking like perfect weather, we have mid-to-high 20s predicted which is ideal for race day.”
Fashions on the Field registrations will be open until race one, with the competition starting at 1.30pm, directly after the first race.
Fashions co-ordinator Sarah Crothers said consistency was key throughout revellers’ outfits.
“It’s always nice to see the older, elegant styles, but from what’s been going on with the fashion festivals, there’s a lot of florals, prints and long sleeves, also bell sleeves are still in,” she said.
“Judges will look for autumn colours and fabrics.”
In millinery, the turban trend that featured in two winning outfits at Wodonga Gold Cup continues.
Milliner Tania Scott said all interpretations would turn heads.
“Turbans have featured strongly, we’re still seeing crowns, and hats have made a comeback in big ways,” she said.
“Autumn racing is generally about textures – leather, velvet, furs, and felts – and we’re looking for plums and rich, beautiful colours.”
The four fashions categories will be judged by Bachelorette 2017 contestant Luke McLeod, milliner Danica Erard, Nine News presenter Jo Hall, Miss Universe Australia Olivia Rogers and Michael Knox of Skinlogics Albury.
Ms Crothers said there was $35,000 worth of prizes for the best-dressed.
“One of the main prizes is through the Race Club with a marquee package for 40 people, Danica is donating one of her pieces, we’ve got accommodation, wine and beauty products, and prizes from Myer Centrepoint,” she said.
Gates open at 10.30am and the first race is at 1.25pm. Ross Wilson from Daddy Cool will hit the stage before the Gold Cup at 4.25pm.
