The Magpies bowled the hosts out for 143 in the 35th over and finished with 6-167 from their full complement of overs.
Chris Oates claimed another big haul – claiming 4-30, while the middle-order of Blair Carnegie (39), Cooper Matheson (27), Jarryd Wallace (41), and Zac Wallace (20) impressed after the openers fell cheaply.
Wangaratta captain Zac Guilfoyle admitted everyone contributed throughout.
“We won the last game last year, so we’re saying we’ve won two of our last three,” Guilfoyle laughed.
“It was a bit of a topsy-turvy battle, they controlled some parts of the game, we controlled other parts and we just had our noses in front at the end of the day.
“I think we needed three-and-a-half an over for the last six overs and we got them.”
Oates has picked up eight wickets in the first two games after snaring 4-17 against City Colts in round one.
“He’s not renowned for his bowling, but he bowls in good areas and he’s a little bit slower, so he’s hard to hit,” Guilfoyle added.
City Colts handed Beechworth its second straight loss, restricting them to 8-151 before reaching 4-190.
Colts’ skipper Kent Braden starred with 2-20 and 62 not out.
Ovens Valley United also continued its impressive start, reaching 6-181 before dismissing Delatite for 73.
Michael Newton made an unbeaten 39 and claimed 2-20 with the ball.
Yarrawonga-Mulwala (9-163) were far too strong for Benalla Bushrangers (9-97).
James Irvine, Brady Bartlett, Will Sharp and Brock McCabe all took two wickets for the Lakers.
