Leading by just two points at the long break, the Bushrangers were stung into action with Border duo Dylan Clarke and Ben Kelly dominating.
Seymour's Hudson Kaak played his best match for the side, kicking five goals.
"It was good to have the win locked away with 10 or 15 minutes to go," coach Mark Brown said.
"Every game we have played has gone down to the wire so this was a bit of a relief.
"Our second half was as good as we have played all year.
"At half-time we addressed a few areas and, to the boys credit, they played a really strong half of football.
"I think they proved to themselves that when they bring that sort of intensity they can compete with anyone."
Clarke kicked two goals in his 25 possessions, Kelly was effective in the ruck and the Chalcrafts bobbed up regularly to impact the game.
"Our first-half was nothing short of atrocious," Brown said.
"Even though we led we were doing a lot wrong so it was pleasing to turn it around."
