Die-hard Sydney supporter Greg Williams will travel to Melbourne today and said he had a flag especially made for the occasion.
“The Swans are a gutsy team and I can remember when I first started supporting them in 1972, the year I first moved to Albury from Sydney,” he said.
“I knew nothing about AFL and that was the first time I saw a team play, that was back when they were the old South Melbourne.”

Mr Williams has passed his obsession down to his daughter Carlee.
“Dad’s brainwashed me,” she said.
“I was born into it and have supported them since I can remember.”
Mr Williams has his house decked out in red and white, with the Swans anthem blaring and a re-run of the 2012 grand final playing on a big screen.
Carlee has many fond Swans memories.
“I can remember the first grand final they won in more than 70 years,” she said.
“I had just finished year 12 and I had the chicken pox.
“And then, during the 2012 grand final, I was holding dad’s hand watching the game the last three minutes nearly gave me a heart attack.”
While Carlee will have barbecue to celebrate today, her dad will watch the game from three rows back at the MCG.
Mr Williams is tipping Swans to win by 19 points and Ben McGlynn for best on ground.
THERE were no dissenting staff who dared to enter the nest of Hawks at Jacob Toyota in Wodonga yesterday.
Customer relations manager Rebecca Spiers said employees at the Wodonga store noticeably favoured one side.
“We had five of us dressed in Hawks’ colours and we are all pretty diehard Hawks supporters,” she said.
“I was convinced by my dad since birth to go for Hawks and have supported them ever since.”
“My whole family supports Hawks, I don’t think I’d be allowed to have it any other way so I jumped on board with that.”
The staff enjoyed some food and banter about who would win today’s big game, some of the customers also got in on the action.
“The customers always come in and have a bit of banter, they notice our Hawks colours and yell out ‘go Swans’, so it’s all a bit of fun,” she said.
Rebecca said yesterday’s barbecue was a warm up for the big day.
