Miss Gogoll was one of 44,190 who received main round UAC offers on Wednesday evening.
She was accepted into a double degree of Arts/Law at the University of Newcastle.
“I’ve always wanted to do law but I didn’t think I’d get the marks so I pushed it to the side. When the ATAR scores came out I realised I did. I’m looking to go into family law. I’ve always wanted to help people,” she said.
Miss Gogoll credited the support of her teachers at Murray High School for her success.
“Year 12 was a very difficult year, but my teachers were so supportive. They never pushed me to do anything I was uncomfortable with. They just wanted me to do my best, because of that I think I did really well,” she said.
James Richardson was given early entry to teaching at Charles Sturt in Thurgoona and is looking forward to what the future holds.
“I’m actually excited to continue learning. I’d like to carry on with my education, meet some new people and broaden my horizons a little more,” he said.
The Xavier High School graduate also offered advice to any future Year 12 students who might be feeling nervous about the upcoming school year.
“It’s important to remember that it does finish and that everyone finds it hard at different points. There is an end. Know what’s next if you can. Once you know your end goal, you know how to get there.”
Miss Gogoll also stressed the importance of having a good support system.
“Different people around you can give you different kinds of support. Family look after you, teachers give you that academic help,” she said.
“On top of that, friends are definitely your best support system. They stop you from going crazy.”
UAC General Manager of Marketing and Engagement, Kim Paino encouraged anyone who had missed out to check back for second and third-round offers.
“There are several more offer rounds, and applicants have... until midnight next Wednesday January 25 to change preferences… If you haven’t applied yet it’s not too late. Applications are open until February 10,” she said.
Second-round offers will be released February 1 with further rounds to be released throughout February.
