Cody Robert Schulz, 22, had only been released from jail in mid-April and was back to committing crimes the following month.
Homeless since the age of 14, the Border man first used marijuana at age nine and moved to ice at age 13.
He has been living out of his cars, which he used to commit the offences.
Schulz stole $65 worth of petrol from Bendigo in May, $123 worth of fuel from the Wodonga APCO twice the following month, and $56 in fuel at Cobram.
The 22-year-old has never held a licence and used fuel stolen from Rutherglen on July 14 to flee police.
He had fitted his vehicle with plates stolen from a Magnolia Crescent home a few days earlier, and sped off when police tried to intercept him on Brockley Street about 12.50pm.
Schulz stomped on the accelerator, overtook a vehicle trying to turn right, and drove on the wrong side of the road in wet conditions.
He overtook another vehicle and got back onto the correct side as another car approached.
It’s alleged Schulz reversed into a car in Albury shortly afterwards, which the NSW court system will likely deal with once he’s released from jail in Victoria.
He was arrested after jumping a fence at the back of a Vienna Court home and struggled with police as they tried to take him into custody.
He had seven keys in a backpack when he was taken into custody.
Magistrate Stella Stuthridge appeared concerned by how quickly he had gone back to jail.
“He was only out for three months,” she said.
He was jailed for six months and banned from driving for two years.
