A man was lucky to escape without injury after his car and a train collided at Kurri Kurri on Friday. A white Holden Commodore was travelling over a train crossing at Mitchell Avenue about 7.30pm when the train approached. The train driver sounded the whistle to alert the man before the collision. Police said no one was injured in the incident. The man and the train driver were breath tested at the scene. Both returned negative readings. Police said the driver of the car will be issued with an infringement notice. The car was extensively damaged and had to be towed away.
