The Albury Show Society has a huge line-up of entertainment to fill the program, usually heavily occupied by horses.
And for the first time, people will be able to walk around and take part in activities on the central arena, which was usually reserved for the horse events, show secretary Sue Hurst said.
“It’s our 150th show and it’s going to be bigger than ever,” she said.
“There will be no horses but we will have camel rides instead of pony rides for the children and people can experience bull riding at the rodeo.”
A major drawcard will be the 12th annual Anything Goes Ute Show where people will be encouraged to enter in classes including the street, rural, 4WD, bachelor and spinster and feral ute categories.
Australian Governor-General Major Michael Jeffery will officially open the show on Friday, which will be followed by entertainment and the rodeo in the evening.
Mrs Hurst said the rodeo started the jam-packed program, including two state finals of wood chopping on the Saturday afternoon from 3pm and a performance by country music artist Paul Costa that evening.
The night will culminate with the annual fireworks display from 9.10pm.
Among the other entertainment is motorcycle and car stunt rider Lawrence Legend, who will take part in a two-wheel challenge.
The snake man will return and The Nova Pigs will play, direct from a performance at the Royal Melbourne Show.
This year’s Miss Albury Showgirl, Katie Nadebaum, 24, of Walla, will be involved in the presentation of the junior showgirl competition on the Saturday and awarding winning cattle with sashes.
There will also be lots of art and craft, wood chopping, street riders, busking, animal nurseries and Irish and Scottish dancers.
Something else not to miss will be the Army Reserves who will provide troops to demonstrate battle moves.
As a special effort for the 150th show, the horticulture section is encouraging exhibitors with an extra $1000 value in prizes.
