She is in training to be one of the 1000 musicians hoped to turn out in Wangaratta next March.
They need to play simultaneously for at least five minutes to break Canada’s Guinness world record mark.
Lavington’s Heather Wilson, Kate’s piano teacher, is calling on fellow accordion players and those who just want to help smash the record to take part in the noisy event.
“We need to get everyone on board now so we can learn the song and register,” she said.
On Saturday, 10 strangers from around the Border and two from Canberra gathered at Mrs Wilson’s home to practise the Italian tune, Oh Solo Mio.
Mrs Wilson, who has been playing the piano and accordion for more than 45 years, said it was an easy instrument to learn.
“I am also teaching a 60-year-old lady who wanted to join the bandwagon and help break the record,” Mrs Wilson said.
The world record attempt for the most piano accordions and button accordion players performing in one place at one time will be held on March 22 next year in Wangaratta.
The record attempt will be held in conjunction with the city’s Viva Italia festival.
To sign up for the record attempt, phone Mrs Wilson on (02) 6025 6480.
