Voting in The Border Mail-Johnsons MME Footballer of the Year award opened on Saturday with the winner to get $2000.
Corowa-Rutherglen star Jake Ryan took out last year’s award, while Wangaratta Rovers champion Robbie Walker was the inaugural winner in 1997.
“This will be the 13th consecutive year that Johnsons MME will be the sponsor of this prestigious award,” partner Rod Mullavey said.
“We are proud of our involvement with The Border Mail and the O and M.
“We look forward to the 2009 season to add the name of this year’s winner alongside the list of names of past winners which reads as a who’s who of the best footballers in the O and M of the modern era.”
