And Wodonga teenager Bethany Smith is fast making a name for herself in table tennis circles after taking home a bronze medal from the recent Australian Junior Championships at Kingsway Indoor Stadium in Perth.
Smith, 16, pictured, is a member of the Greenfield Park-based Albury-Wodonga Table Tennis Association.
She represented the president’s team, along with South Australia’s Vy Bui and Isabella Chang, of NSW, which finished third in the under-18 girls section.
“She’s been playing locally for about three years so it’s a great achievement,” her father David said.
“She got the chance to rub shoulders with some very good players, including some who are going to the world championships.”
Next year’s tournament will be in Croydon from September 28-October 5.
