Andrew Grove’s side remains on top of the table after defeating a spirited St Patrick’s 5-4 at Glen Park.
But it did it the hard way, coming from 4-2 down in the second half before scoring three goals in a 25-minute blitz.
“You take the win but we will definitely be looking to improve a few things, especially tightening up the backline so we can stop conceding so many goals,” said Grove, who scored a brace.
“We were pretty lucky to come from down twice to get out of it.
“We weren’t playing badly but let some soft goals in that we were disappointed about.”
Patties coach John Ritchie said he was disappointed to give up the lead.
“Being 4-2 up, you should be able to shut up shop from there,” he said.
“But they are a good team, we just ran out of legs in the end.
“We could have won it but it got away from us unfortunately.”
Elsewhere, Myrtleford celebrated its first home game of the season with a 5-1 win against Wangaratta at Savoy Park.
At Aloysius Park, skipper Ryan Giles scored a hat-trick as Albury Hotspurs defeated Albury City 8-0 and at La Trobe, Adam Waters and Jarrod Herzina scored doubles to give Wodonga Diamonds a 6-0 win against Wodonga Heart.
