Albury-Wodonga Softball Association’s Jayde Gardiner, Laura Moorfield, both 17, Steven Garoni, 16, Ebony Fulford, 15, and Aaron Nitschke, 16, will travel around the country to play for Victoria.
Nitschke will play in the week-long under-17 tournament starting on January 6 in Launceston before travelling to Perth for the January 13 under-19 championships.
He will be joined in Launceston by Garoni.
Gardiner and Moorfield will both play under-19s in Canberra while Fulford will play under-17s in Sydney.
The group travels to Melbourne from the Border each week for training.
While in Albury they soak up knowledge from nationally accredited coach and Australian Sports medallist Rhonda Scammell.
Scammell said all her charges were looking forward to a big month.
“The national championships are a pretty big deal,” she said.
“They have been travelling to Melbourne each week for six months.
“To have five players from this area competing for Victoria is great and even more so when you consider four of them are key position players.”
