The former Scots School Albury student finished a career-best third at the Freestyle Skiing Moguls World Cup event in Lake Placid, in the US yesterday morning.
It’s the best result by an Australian woman moguls skier.
Cox’s father, Graeme, spoke to his daughter, 18, after watching her on the podium on a computer screen while camping near Coffs Harbour.
“She was pretty happy,” Graeme said.
“She said she was pretty confident coming into the event after training well on the course.”
Cox will now head to Calgary, Canada, for another World Cup event before returning to the US for another event at her favourite venue, Deer Valley, Utah.
Graeme is hoping his daughter can pull off something special in her next event in Calgary which will be held next Saturday — Australia Day.
The top-five skier is looking more likely of a berth at next year’s Winter Olympics in Russia with the top 30 in the world earning automatic selection.
