A SOLDIER from the Australian Army Base Kapooka yesterday came to the aid of a woman in her 20s after she fell unconscious following a car accident.
The soldier was the first to arrive on scene just after 7am when the woman’s Suzuki pulled out of Lansdowne Avenue and collided with a utility travelling south on Plumpton Road.
The utility hit the drivers’ side of the woman’s car, trapping her inside.
The soldier rushed to her aid and stayed by her side throughout the incident.
Believed to be in her early 20s, the P-plate driver was freed with the assistance of the Wagga Volunteer Rescue Association and NSW Fire and Rescue. She was taken to Wagga Base Hospital in a stable condition with a concussion and no serious injuries.
Police put in place a number of local diversions with the road closed for an hour.
