This young lass is ready to meet someone who shares her love of long walks, the outdoors and spending time entwined on the couch.
And if that special someone had a cupboard full of Schmackos, well then, Misty the American bulldog could not ask for more.
“She looks like a big meat-head but really, she’s a big marshmallow,” foster carer Brydie Charlesworth said.
“She likes to play ball, loves cuddles, and big comfy beds. She’s a big goofball.”
Mrs Charlesworth said Misty had all her basic obedience training, with more included after adoption, and would be well-suited to someone who had experience with a bull breed.
“She loves kids, other dogs amd the company of people,” she said.
You can meet Misty, and plenty of other dogs and cats looking for new homes tomorrow at Albury-Wodonga Animal Rescue’s Adoption Day.
Eleven dogs and 20 cats found homes after last year’s event and co-ordinator Stacey Swan hoped to beat that number this weekend.
“The aim is to get people to come and meet our dogs and cats,” Mrs Swan said.
“All the animals are either surrenders or from the Albury pound.
“It’s a chance to meet them, see if you like them, and then we’ll go from there.
“No animals leave on the day as we don’t want impulse buys.”
Wander, a 14-week-old border collie-cross dog, is looking for her “forever-after home”.
“She’s very timid and shy,” Mrs Swan said.
“She needs lots of time; someone with patience. If they put the time into the puppy, they’ll get the loyal companion for life.”
Tomorrow’s event will boast a petting zoo, safety talks, face-painting, sausage sizzle, soups and cakes, and opportunities to talk with a professional dog trainer and Albury council rangers.
Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue has about 40 dogs and 80 cats that need homes.
Doors open from 11am to 2pm at Dr Jana’s Veterinary Centre on Wagga Road, Lavington. Visit www.alburydogrescue.org.au.
