Brendan Coleman, 27, was charged at 1pm with armed robbery, theft, burglary, assault with a weapon and a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
Some of the charges relate to the armed robbery of BWS on Beechworth Road on Sunday night where $310 was allegedly stolen.
Coleman was extradited from Albury to Wodonga on Thursday afternoon and appeared in Wodonga Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning, with police applying for consent to interview him.
His mother was present in the short application with Coleman, dressed in a black hooded jumper and tracksuit pants, turning around to say “see ya mum” before being taken into custody for questioning.
He was questioned and later charged at the Wodonga police station before again fronting court later that afternoon before Magistrate John Murphy, who presided over the hearing via video-link from Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.
Solicitor Mario Vaccaro, who did not make an application for bail on behalf his client, told Mr Murphy that Coleman had made “full admissions” to the armed robbery.
He told the court Coleman needed to see a doctor for pain killers for a back injury sustained from a car crash some seven months earlier.
Mr Murphy remanded Coleman for a committal mention at the Wodonga Magistrates’ Court on November 7.
He ordered the brief of evidence to be served by September 28.
Detective Sgt Graeme Simpfendorfer said a firearm was recovered.
He thanked the community, NSW police and the media for their assistance in the investigation.
