WODONGA’S Heath Macleod went on another gold-medal spree at the Victorian Shortcourse Swimming Championships in Melbourne last weekend.

Macleod, who dominated at the recent state country titles at Wangaratta, claimed six gold and a silver and smashed the record for the 200 metres breaststroke by more than four seconds.
Wodonga teammate Zoe Deacon also won a breaststroke gold at the three-day titles.
Macleod won the 100 and 200 metres freestyle, the 100 and 200 metres individual medley and the 100 and 200 metres breaststroke. He claimed silver in the 50 metres freestyle.
His record for the 200 metres breaststroke is 2:23.35. He led all the way to win by nine seconds.
Deacon won gold in the 200 metres breaststroke with a personal best of 2:40.62. She had more than two seconds to spare.
She was the fastest qualifier for the 100 metres breaststroke and swam another best of 1:13.00, but lost the gold when she was disqualified for slight movement on the blocks. Deacon also claimed bronze in the 200 metres individual medley.
Wodonga sent 14 swimmers and nine qualified for finals.
President Harald Stadelmann said Wodonga was proud that it ranked 11th at the meeting.
“We had swimmers competing at their first state championships and it was a tremendously valuable experience for them to make the qualifying times, to swim at the highest level in Victoria,” he said. “We had almost 95 per cent personal best times.
“We improved our tally by more than 200 points over last year and this is not done with just one swimmer.”
GT Aquatics' Lauren Barrette won a silver medal in the 11 years 50 metres freestyle and made the 100 metres freestyle final.
Wangaratta finished 29th, GT Aquatics 53rd and Albury North-Lavington 63rd.
Kate Brown, Isabelle Rennner and Elli Warren made multiple finals for Wangaratta lifting the club to 11th in the girls rankings.
Wangaratta’s Emma Bown and Jack Synnot and ANL’s Katie Scott also made finals.
