Ingall, who will team up with Indycar star Ryan Briscoe, has finished Bathurst more times than most of his rivals have started.
Often criticised for his qualifying form, Ingall points to his amazing record of 19 finishes from 21 starts, including two wins and 15 top-10 results on the mountain.
“Bathurst is a race which suits my style,” Ingall said.
“Experience counts for more than raw speed and qualifying is not so important because there are hours to make up positions. Doing well at Bathurst is about being smart as well as fast.”
Ingall’s first victory, in 1995, is considered one of the greatest ever.
