Brad Collins (Nurmurkah), Ryan Normington (Shepparton United), Ben McEvoy (Dederang Mt Beauty) and Ben Reid (Wangaratta Rovers) were named in the preliminary squad for Vic Country while Trent Castles (Albury), Sean Logie (Tocumwal), Tim McIntyre (Corowa-Rutherglen), Myles Aalbers (Lavington), Jake Platfuss (Blighty) and Jay Koehler (Howlong) were chosen for NSW-ACT.
Vic Country will commence preparation for the championships at Victoria Park on May 13 with the side to be coached by former Fitzroy player Leon Harris.
NSW-ACT will be led by triple Belconnen premiership coach and former Wodonga mentor Darren Denneman.
Normington, who was best afield with 27 possessions in the Bushrangers’ 37-point win over Dandenong last week, McEvoy and Reid all represented Australia in the Under 17 International Rules Series against Ireland last month.
The Bushrangers entered the top eight following their triumph last week over the Stingrays but face a tough assignment against Oakleigh Chargers today.
They have made just one change with Wangaratta Rovers youngster Anthony Carlile earning a call-up for his TAC Cup debut.
Carlile is the younger brother of Alipate, who was taken by Port Adelaide with pick 44 in last years AFL National Draft.
“It’s great for Anthony to get an opportunity and he has been close for a couple of weeks,” coach Peter Dean said.
Meanwhile 10 of the next crop of Murray Bushrangers were included in the Victorian squad for July’s Under 16 National Championships in Brisbane.
They are Klay Giovannini, Dashmir Baroli, Jamie Sheehan, William Martiniello, Sam Wright, Nathan Waite, Brett Mahoney, Tom, Rockliff, Ben Birthisel and Andrew Browne.
