Region manager Andrew Carson said yesterday Lavington’s Michael Gibbons, Albury’s Keiran Ellis, Wagga Tigers ruckman Max King and Goulburn Valley trio Jarman Impey, Nick Holman and Nathan Drummond had impressed talent scouts.
“Those six are still attracting interest,” Carson said.
“I’m confident we can get three or four of those guys up but turning interest into selection is the golden ticket.
“It’s so hard to read these days with the free agency and all the changes that are going on.”
Impey and Holman are considered the Bushrangers’ brightest prospects of being drafted while Gibbons also has claims after strong performances in the TAC Cup and national championships.
Impey recorded top-10 finishes in each of the three vertical jump tests at last month’s draft combine and has been compared to Mathew Stokes and Michael Walters in terms of his game style.
Holman won Victoria Country’s most valuable player in the under-18s this year.
Albury’s Keiran Ellis and Wodonga’s Kayne Turner have attracted attention but their best chance could come in the rookie draft.
Carson said spots could be at a premium with free agency introduced this year.
“We just don’t know how many live picks there will be,” Carson said.
“It’s a real waiting game.
“There are chances after tomorrow night though.”
Myrtleford star Jack Crisp was overlooked in last year’s draft before being rookie listed by Brisbane.
